Mame Day--Beans day

Japan has a tradition of throwing dried soy beans in February

Hi, how are you?

I gave face-to-face classes today and enjoyed talking with my students๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Actually, I prefer the regular lesson than online lesson.

Today's blog theme is what-day-is-it-today!๐Ÿ˜

There are some anniversaries today, but I chose "Mame day" or Beans day.

October 13 is September 13 in the lunar calendar, and it's called Jusan-ya or the 13th night to enjoy moon viewing. It is said to be the second most beautiful moon following the Chushu-no-Meigetsu on August 15 in the lunar calendar.

On Jusan-ya, beans or chestnuts are offered to the moon. After the practice, today is established as Beans day.

In February, we have a custom of throwing dried soybeans, which is called "Setsubun." By throwing the soybeans, we welcome good luck and get rid of bad luck...Oh I just remembered! There is a saying "Talk about next year and the devil will laugh." So I won't tell more about next February now๐Ÿ˜ For the details, look forward to it!
