Clothes Day

Clothes Day

Good evening. It's 10 p.m. here. And I've just finished online meeting.

Today is "Yofuku-no-hi" or Clothes Day.

On November 12, 1872, Meiji 5, The Grand Council of State proclaimed that they would adopt clothes as the formal wear.

Before the Meiji Restoration, during the Edo period, kimono was the ceremonial clothes. Strictly speaking, it's called "kamishimo," the full dress uniform of samurai. And now we can see the remnants of kamishimo in what Shinto priest wears.

Today, we wear kimono as the formal wear now. We are proud of kimono as the traditional clothing of Japan๐Ÿ˜ƒ
