"Osakana Kaishi" Fish-shaped Kaishi paper

Osakana Kaishi

Hi. Thank you for visiting my blog😊

Today's theme is "Osakana Kaishi," fish-shaped "kaishi" paper. It is made of "kaishi," traditional Japanese paper, which is folded and kept tucked inside the breast of the kimono. It has been used as a memo pad, handkerchief, tissue and plate since over 1,000 years ago. Recently, it is commonly used at Tea ceremony or "Kaiseki Cuisine."

This "Osakana Kaishi" was invented by Ms. Goto Atsuko, a manners instructor as well as an expert of the usage of chopsticks. This material is very useful for learning how to eat grilled or boiled fish. There are some rules to eat fish dish properly. For example, do not turn it over to eat the bottom of the fish meat. If you learn more about how to eat fish at Japanese cuisine, please let me know😃
