year end cleaning
December 13 is called "Shogatsu-kotohajime," New Year Preparations. Japanese people start preparations for the New Year. More specifically, we get preparations to welcome "Toshigami-sama," a god of the household. It is said that each household has "Toshigami-sama," and every new year the god comes to each house to watch our good health and happiness for a year.
We clean the house thoroughly, which is called "susu-harai." Buddhist Temples and Shinto Shrines also do this "susu-harai" event, which is broadcast on TV.
We Japanese do "spring cleaning" at the end of the year. Okay, I'll clean up the house!😊
