"Osechi" part 1

"Osechi" Japanese New Year's Dish

Hi. How's everything?πŸ˜‰

I'm starting to see the end of the year. It's about time to prepare for New Year.

I'll write about "Osechi," Japanese New Year's Dish, in a series from today. The first is about "Osechi" itself as a whole.

"Osechi" or "Osechi-ryori" is Japanese traditional dish prepared especially for New Year's celebration, which we eat during New Year's holidays. It’s an assortment of mini dishes, each of which has a special meaning such as good health and prosperity for the family for the year. The dishes are packed together in "Jubako," a type of tiered food box (usually lacquer ware).

I'll introduce one of the small dishes next timeπŸ˜„
