Kabukiza theater
Hi. I've just finished an online meetingš
Today is the anniversary of "Kabukiza" theater opening. On November 21, 1889, the first Kabuki theater opened. So it's also the 128th birthday of the theater.
You know, "kabuki" is a traditional Japanese performance art, which consists of drama, dance and music. It is played by only male actors and womenās roles are played by male actors, called āonnagata.ā The opposite is the Takarazuka Revue, Japanese all-female musical theater group.
Kabuki was designated by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2009. They are taking on new challenges while preserving tradition of Kabuki. We're looking forward to the future of Kabukiš
