Wash your hands for 30 seconds
Hello.
I gave a class today. One of my students told me she is planning to go to Hawaii for care training. She asked me what she should do in preparation for the training. I told her studying English conversation is important, but it is also necessary for her to learn more about Japanese culture and introduce it to the people she is meeting. Anyway, I admire her trying really hard😊
Today is Global Handwashing Day. Many activities to spread the proper handwashing steps are carried out. It is said we should wash our hands with soap for 30 seconds, which is almost the same as singing "Happy Birthday to You" twice. We already know that handwashing is one of the most effective ways to prevent COVID-19.
When it comes to soap, it was in the 16th century when soap came to Japan. It's almost the same as when matchlock guns were introduced. It was so valuable that only a few people like generals or feudal lords could get.
Today in Japan, we can wash our hands whenever we want. We just have to turn the faucet and clean water will come out. But 40% of the world population doesn't have some equipment for washing hands with water and soap. It makes me think about different things😑
