Today, November the 2nd, is my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. It's Golden Wedding Anniversary, you know.
It is said that the custom of celebrating wedding anniversary started in Europe. Originally Japanese didn't have the custom to celebrate the anniversary. In 1894, with the 25th wedding anniversary of the Emperor Meiji as a start, it became customary to celebrate the anniversary in Japan.
The Golden Wedding Anniversary represents their shining and rich relationship like gold. Some couples present gold accessories to each other in commemoration of the anniversary.
